Lauren Ellis

Lauren is currently a University student, choosing to study East Asian Studies mostly due to an interest in art from this region.

Her main inspiration is Japanese woodblock prints, where she tries to replicate the same bright and bold colours and almost cartoon-like style using acrylics and watercolor, whilst also incorporating her own more impressionistic style.

The genre of these prints is called "Ukiyo-e" which translates to "pictures of the floating world". In her work she attempts to create a sense of escapism and a look into a different world.
